Achievement Goals (Competencies) for the Differerent Levels of Instruction
 
Participants must complete all the achievement goals to progress to the next level on the pathway.
 
Level One:
  • Safe pool entry & exits
  • Move around the pool
  • Blow bubbles
  • Submerge and blow bubbles
  • Kicking on the bar & board
  • Floating, unaided front & back
 
Level Two:
  • Sit & 1/4 turn entry
  • Float on front & regain feet
  • Float on back & regain feet
  • Glide, kick & blow bubbles
  • Arm action, front & back
  • Breathing with a board
 
Level Three:
  • Maintain correct body positionon the front and back
  • Streamline glide with correct kick, unaided, front & back
  • Freestyle breathing with board
  • 15m freestyle
  • 15m backstroke
 
Level Four:
  • Streamline glide with correct kick, unaided, front and back
  • Correct breathing action
  • Correct freestyle arm stroke
  • Correct leg action front and back
  • 25m freestyle
  • 25m backstroke
 
Level Five:
  • Correct breathing action
  • Correct freestyle arm action
  • 50m freestyle – hold technique
  • 50m backstroke
  • Introduction to breaststroke
  • Introduction to butterfly
